Nude November (so far!)

With Dallas-area temperatures in the low 80s since the start of the month, there has been little reason to be dressed around the house this month until today. Cooler weather arrived overnight last night, but since last week, over the weekend and until now we have been able to enjoy the indulgence of nudity all day every day during the first days in November while at home.

We spent a splendid nude weekend outdoors by the pool enjoying the warm sun, and didn’t have a need to get dressed except for a few chores since mid-week last week. It certainly makes laundry day on Saturday a lot easier when you are not wearing any clothes that need washing, and your laundry basket has few other clothes in it as well!

My wife and I are both working from home this month, so there’s little need to dress at all except for errands out of the house. Being comfortably nude during the day eases the passage of the workday, and before too long it is quitting time and we are able to kick back for some together time in the splendid weather.

Our ritual for the past few days has been to retire to the back patio for some card games and adult beverages immediately after “work” ends at 5:00 PM, enjoying the sunshine and calm winds in the most comfortable way possible. Being able to leave “work,” and be outside enjoying nude relaxation in the sunshine one minute later, is a luxury we are most grateful for.

Nude lady loungingWinter will be here soon enough, and with it the obligation to wear clothes for warmth while indoors as well as outside. And so we relish the late fall days when our nudity during the day can be uninterrupted, making workdays more comfortable and relaxed — even if only for awhile.

Nude in NY

We are in New York City for a few days, and so of course we will be nude nearly half the time. Our hotel is just steps from Times Square, and therefore we’ll probably bump into the Naked Cowboy as we usually do during every visit. But aside from the 14 or so hours a day we’re out of the hotel supposedly earning a living, we’ll chill out in the nude, in the hotel, while taking in an amazing view of 42nd Street.

With views like this, it’s our preference to leave all the lights off in the room and let the lights of the city add a soft glow to the hotel room. Some mellow music from Soma FM coming through iTunes, and simple nudity along with a glass of wine at the end of the day, make a long day of travel almost pleasureable. Leaving the drapes open and the lights in the room off provides us with both the freedom to be nude and not be visible to anyone who might be able to see into our 44th-floor window, but also to let the spectacular lights of the street below add a tender glow to the room.

Nude in the hotel roomIt’s a wonder we made it through so many years of the business travel grind before discovering the relaxation and unburdening that a nude night’s stay in a hotel can be. A few hotels we’ve stayed at even provide little tea light candles in the room to help add to their guest’s decompression. Would that they also invite their guests to disrobe and relax in the most natural way possible!

Now it’s our habit to immediately undress upon reaching the hotel room after our journey or the day’s work. Unpacking, doing e-mail, phoning home — they can all wait until we’re nude and much more comfortable. And so like every night in a hotel for us, our week in New York City will be spent mostly nude — as we like it.

205 (at least!) reasons to be nude

K. Bacher’s excellent and extensive 205 Arguments for Naturism (204k PDF file) is a must-read for anyone starting out in the nude life, wondering about it, or trying to get participation by their spouse / spice / significant other. I would give more complete credit to the author if I knew it; please write me if you know more about the original source.

With all of those arguments for the nude life and acceptance of simple nudity, it’s a wonder more people don’t discover nudism. After all, aren’t most folks nude at least a few minutes every day during their morning bath or shower? Why don’t more of them just extend their nudity a few more minutes — or hours! — and luxuriate in the freedom and comfort that even private in-home nudism brings?

It’s often said that nudism is the one pastime that every person on the earth is equally qualified to participate in — and with exceptions for unfortunate persons such as convicts and those in other restrictive or repressive societies, it seems true enough. Certainly so to the extent that every person alive was born nude, and thus had at least a brief exposure to the natural state of being.

Chores less like work when done nude

Nude WelderAmong the many obvious and not-so obvious benefits of the nude life is that nudity makes most everyday chores much less bothersome and certainly much more comfortable. Projects around the house and yard, from vacuuming and tidying up to weeding, painting, cleaning and small-scale construction projects, are all much less burdensome without the bother of clingy, sweat-soaked clothes getting in the way.

Having the freedom of spending the past six years as a nude telecommuter, and thus enjoying most days nude while at work here at home, and much of the rest of the day and night as well year-round, I’ve managed to accomplish the full range of home chores nude. From arranging and cleaning the home office to attending long, boring conference calls, to everyday work, research and reading, it’s all done more comfortably and more enjoyably nude. My office window faces east to the the strett outside, so I have a clear view from the second floor to any delivery trucks or door-to-door solicitors, and nice bright sunlight for all of the morning hours year-round. By noontime, the east side of the house is in shade and so the even illumination through the window balances out the otherwise ordinary fluorescent lights and computer displays of the office interior.

Household chores are performed nude whenever possible, which is most of the time. Cleaning the house is almost not a chore at all when it is done wearing the most comfortable uniform of all. Assembling furniture, painting and re-painting rooms, vacuuming and washing, and household repairs and maintenance all seem less of a job as well when the freedom of being nude is part of the assignment.

Very close to 100% of the outdoor chores in our backyard pool area are done without the bother of clothing. Routine pool maintenance, washing and maintaining the outdoor furniture and pool equipment, raking and shredding leaves in the fall, as well as more substantial projects like fence power-washing, sealcoating and repairs have all been completed without wearing a stitch, which now seems to be so natural and normal that I doubt I’d ever want to take on any of them again if they had to be done clothed.

Nudity brings pleasure to everyday life in unexpected ways, and in cases like those above, actually adds to what would otherwise be unpleasant.

A nude workweek

North Texas is enjoying the warm weather we are used to having in June and July here in early October. What that means for telecommuting nudists and those of us with home-based jobs is that we can look forward to more warm days of clothesfree life, both working and relaxing nude throughout the day.

Spending a quiet afternoon Sunday outdoors around and in the swimming pool was refreshing and delightful for both of us, even though the pool water was a little too chilly for swimming for one of us, with the warm sun tickling the skin under crystal-blue skies. The evening time indoors was also spent nude, just relaxing and watching a DVD movie. Sleeping nude goes without saying, and the only interruption to the day’s clothesfreedom is the minute that it takes to wrap a pareo around the waist long enough to retrieve the newspaper from the front walk.Poolside

Aside from a quick couple of errands out of the house at lunchtime, the “workday” here on the first of October will be spent in the most comfortable way possible — lightening the load both on the psyche (of having to go to “work”) and on the laundry basket.

In all, we expect to earn a living this week in blissful nudity, helping keep the air conditioning bill lower and making every moment of each workday more enjoyable and less stressful.
