Burned like a noobie

Today’s glorious, brilliant sun, mid-80’s high temperatures and sapphire-blue skies beckoned us out to a local nudist resort for the day, our first of 2008 to enjoy outdoors in wonderful nude freedom and comfort after too long of a chilly and dreary winter.

We enjoyed the company of many of our nudist friends, who were just as eager to be back outdoors and under a warm sun again. It was our club’s first ‘official’ outdoor event of the year, and the weather was absolutely perfect.

Upon arriving in mid-morning and getting out of our clothes, I spent two delightful hours lounging in the morning sun. Others in our party arrived a bit later, and when they did they moderated their time under the sun much more than I did, and so by early afternoon, it was apparent that I had made a typical “nudist noobie” mistake: getting an all-over sunburn. It’s a mild case, but the tenderness is such that putting clothes back on is not at all pleasant, and so off they came again as soon as we got home.

Being a nudist for many years now, I should know better. But the warmth of the sun is so inviting, and the time spent away from such a wonderful feeling made the two hours I laid out seem so brief, that I’m happy to pay the price of a couple of days of tenderness. The Sun

What if…

What if there was a beach used exclusively by blind nudists?

In the minds of many, it’s not the fact of nudity that is so shameful, it’s being seen naked that is bad. It’s the sight of the body that God gave us that leads to sin and debauchery.

So, what if everyone’s blind? Would that be OK?

I mean, if seeing the ‘naughty’ parts leads people astray, then not seeing them should be pretty safe, it seems.

I’ll have to run that one past Rev. Ralph if I ever run into him. Nah, he’d just say that even feeling good is evil. I saw a bumper sticker that said: “I like your Christ. I don’t like your Christians. They are so not like your Christ”. The wackos have given good people a bad name. That’s wrong.

This guy is the epitome of that idea. Pure hatred. Sad that good folks should have to be associated with this disgusting vermin.

And that’s the gist of it, isn’t it? We just have too darn much fun running around nekked and they can’t stand it. There must be something sinful behind it because they know that if they tried it they’d instantly be turned into lustful fornicators and have to roast in Hell forever.

OK, that’s not fair. Most people just think we’re weird, maybe a bit twisted, and they have no interest to try. That’s all right, I feel the same way about Republicans.

I’m not a Christian, but I do ask “what would Jesus do?” Because, to me, Jesus represents the best of human behavior, and a good example to follow.. To use His name to attack the innocents, in this situation, us, disgusts me.

Guess I kinda got off an a rant there, huh?

Would love to hear from blind persons, get their perspective on this. I mean, for them porn is sound and not image, skin color doesn’t exist but voice does. Nudity would be a totally sensory experience, Probably more so than for the sighted. Yet I have yet to meet a blind nudist.

That’s it.

We get around…

I call your attention to the new page linked to at the top of The Nude Life blog starting today, Places. It’s a short summary of all the various places we’ve visited in the 15 years we’ve been nudists, along with a list of other nude trips and destinations where we’ve been able to go nude.

I’m sure we’ve left some off the list that we’ve forgotten about, and doesn’t include plans for nude trips yet to come, but it will serve as a bit of a history for us and our nude wanderings to date.

Feel free to post your own list of the nude destinations you’ve visited or want to visit, or ask about resorts or beaches you’re interested in, in The Nude Life Forum.

Two Little Quotes

“A child who has never been allowed to see his parents and brothers and sisters naked sees nudity as something shocking.”

- Dr. Helga Fleischhauer-Hardt,

Quoted in Show Me (New York: St. Martin’s Press, 1975)

And expressing the same sentiment from the other point of view: “I didn’t grow up with a mother telling me what was under my clothes was bad or evil.”

Academy Award-winning actress Charlize Theron, quoted at imdb.com

A Summer Reminiscence for a Winter Day

It was a perfect summer day at Mazo Beach. Warm and sunny, a few fluffy clouds decorating a flawless blue sky, the Wisconsin River sparkling on it’s way to join the Mississippi, then on to New Orleans and the Gulf of Mexico.

A full complement of beachgoers were frolicking in the water, sunning, playing volleyball. You know, all the things that happy naked people do when they’re happily naked!

Along came a half dozen or so fully clothed men and women who set up lawn chairs in a row and sat down. And stayed that way. Hmm.

Well, nudity isn’t required at the beach but is certainly the norm, and gawkers are definitely not welcome, but they didn’t seem to be gawking. Just sitting there fully clothed on a beach. Hmm again.

Quite some time later, as we were leaving, we stopped and said howdy to them. Told them (nicely) that we were curious as to why they’d be sitting on a beach on a beautiful day dressed from head to toe. I mean, it’s a mile walk from the parking lot and there are a lot of handier beaches.

Finally one of them sheepishly said they were waiting for someone to go first! After a moment or so he said, “I guess I will.” And did.

The rest promptly jumped up and began following suit and as we left them they were busily shedding a lifetime of inhibitions and misconceptions. We can hope and assume that they proceeded to have one of the best afternoons of their lives. Certainly the most memorable!

Welcome to the Family, folks!Surf.jpg
